The United Methodist Church shares basic common
beliefs with other Christian denominations, including a belief
and faith in the triune God, revealed in in three persons of God
the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Like other Protestant denominations
we affirm our beliefs through the sacred symbols and practices
of baptism and communion.
We respect and value the diversity of our beliefs
that are a result of our individual experiences. At the same time,
we are united by a common set of core beliefs and social principles.
Wesley believed that the living core of the
Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by tradition,
vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason.
